Has anyone who had gastric bypass have loose hanging skin?

i am 17 years old and 318lbs and i am wanting to do the surgery in may or june but my fear is that my skin will be so hangy that i will be miserable i jus was wondering how often that this occurs

Has anyone who had gastric bypass have loose hanging skin?
Your skin will be saggy. Insurance companies cover the cost of reconstructive surgery post gastric bypass (in most cases).

You have saggy skin b/c weight is lost too quickly.

Getting a gastric bypass means you are commiting to going to the gym daily post surgery and to eating healthy. If i were you , i would drop 40 pounds before surgery and see if it can be avoided.

This surgery simply forces you to change your eating and exercise patters, if you can walk still i really urge you to reconsidering.

I am not speaking from a skinny person perspective, i was fat, i lost 60 pounds, now i am pregnant, and did gain weight. I considered this surgery but i decided if i can walk, i can exercise and so there is no need for this surgery. Also you are young, at 17 you have energy. I would rather spend the money on a personal trainer and do more research and try to figure out what is wrong medically b4 commiting to this surgery. A lot of the side effects are not worth it to a young woman like yourself.
Reply:I have not had gastric bypass, but my mother did and I remember something about Carnie Wilson and that lead singer from Blues Traveler. They all had the "hangy" skin. If you lose weight slowly, your skin can adjust and kind of shrink with you. If you lose weight very quickly, like with the bypass, there is just no way it can keep up.

I would highly recommend trying some other measures first. Your stomach is going to be mutilated by the surgery and you will never digest food normally again. My mother can not eat anything sweet unless she stays near the bathroom. Also, they shrink your stomach to hold 1-4 oz of food. Imagine not being able to finish eating a small breast of chicken or drinking an entire diet soda. Your stomach will also stretch back out over time if you do not learn to control your eating.

If you overeat, you will throw up.

You are very young so unless it is absolutely medically necessary like life and death, I would try diet and exercise first.

Good luck.
