How much weight loss causes loose skin?

You know those stories where people lose A LOT of weight and have all this extra skin they have to get surgically removed? How much weight has to be lost in order to have that effect?

If someone loses ten pounds, could that happen? Or is it more so only for the obese who lose a lot?

How much weight loss causes loose skin?
No, 10 pounds would not make enough difference to leave you with loose skin. Keep in mind that you will lose that 10 lbs throughout your entire body, not just one area (like the arms, a common "loose skin" area).

Also, if you're thin enough that your goal is only to lose 10 lbs, I doubt that your skin has been stretched to a point where it would have difficulty shrinking.

As a final note, using weights is a good way to prevent the 'flabby skin' look. Here's a good site to look at the difference this can make: http://www.freewebs.com/loggies_mom/pics...

Please keep in mind that she lost a good deal of weight though!
Reply:It really depends on how much weight you lose and how much extra skin they had.
Reply:it depends on your age and how much weight you have gained then lost.

losing 10 pounds should not cause saggy skin because the skin has not had to stretch very far.

losing 110 pounds may cause some because the skin has had to stretch quite a bit.
Reply:10 POUNDS NO WAAAAY...haha thats a joke...not even 50 pounds wouldnt do that...it has to be more like 60-100 pounds to cause that loose skin...the only way people get loose skin is if they have stretch marks ...it goes hand in hand...because loose skin is caused by your skin loosing elasticity in it...which causes the stretch marks...if you have no stretch marks you don't have loose skin ...your probably just soft...
Reply:it depends upon ur age,weight,%26amp; nature of ur skin
