I am a physically active but overweight male in my 40's. If I lose 60 lbs. will the loose skin go away?

I'm 44. I have a large frame. I'm 6'2 and weigh 300#. I ride my bicycle 100 miles a week and work hard in a FL tractor/trailer garage for hrs., often outworking smaller, trimmer, people. I know I eat too much. I have a "beer belly" and flabby chest.I'm strong. My arms, legs, and "butt" are toned, not flabby. I've been up and down the weight roller-coaster, It seems as though that about every ten yrs., I've gotten down to 220-230. I'll get to the question: Do you eventually lose the extra skin if you maintain your weight? I'm tired of having a gut and "man-boobs". Is surgery the answer? How do people in TV ads, who were sedentary, lose hundreds of lbs. and show up in bikinis and trunks with no loose skin. Even now, I don't feel that my appearance matches my lifestyle. I'm a lonely hypocrite; I 'm not attracted to women who even look like couch potatoes, but my flabby body puts me in the same boat. If I lose 80# will the skin shrink or is it Male breast reduction/tummy tuck?

Quit ******* stuffing food down your throat. You answered your question.
Reply:Loose skin doesn't "go away" you need to do toning exercises.
Reply:no it will create stretch marks
Reply:surgery is going to be the answer. dont worry about the skin until you get down to a healhty body weight. eat 6 meals(healthy foods) throughout the day and drink tons of water(and water only). good job with the bike though. i dont know hwo long it takes but a good rule is 45 minutes at least 3 times a week. when you lose the fat, u should get surgery to take off the excess skin, at ur age it probably wont gain it elasticity. drinking tons of water will help but wont get you looking how u want to. good luck and stick with it. im sure the tv people had to get surgery too.
Reply:I'm on weightwatchers and I've heard alot about loose skin. Loose skin may not totally go away but if you add flax seed oil to your diet, it helps with you skins elasticity. So you may lose some of the loose skin just not all of it.

Flax seed oil tastes kind of nutty, it's actually really good, I add it to my oatmeal in the morning.

Healthy oils are good for you including canola and olive oil. Vegetable oil is not good for you!.

Reply:Hello. I am a female with a weight problem and I have often wondered the same thing. I have an aunt who is 41, she lost 130 pounds and her skin is hanging on her stomach and upper arms. She will have to get it surgically removed. I don't think she worked out while losing weight, but even if she would have I don't think it would have made much difference because she was obese since childhood. I wish you the best of luck.
