If I lose 100 pounds at 19 years of age, will I have loose skin?

I'm 19 and I'm about 240 pounds at 5'7". I want to get down to 140, and I'm willing to move fast or slow, but the only thing stopping me is the loose skin. I couldn't handle that. Even with surgery you still have so much scarring.

With that being said, am I going to experience this loose skin? I've been up all night worrying about it...anyone had any experiences with losing so much weight?

Any input would be so helpful to me right now you have nooo idea!

THANK YOU!

Lose it slowly and you should not have a lot of loose skin. See a doctor before you start any exercise program.
Reply:Are you doing it the natural way or the human made way? go for the natural

-- Eat right, excercise LOTS!!
Reply:Do it semi-slow and you should be fine. loose less than 10 lbs a month and your skin should be able to adapt.
Reply:You will have loose skin, yes. It won't be as bad as if you had been obese for 20 years, but the skin has been stretched out a bit.

Now, combining with your age, a SLOW regiment of weight lose might see a very low amount of loose skin.

Fast weight loss will give you the loose skin no mater what age.
Reply:Why err ...... my teacher says that your skinny will contract when you grow thinner and expand when you grow fatter, hope that this answer your question
Reply:Hi, I know how u feel. A couple of yrs ago I was 270lbs and I lost over 100lbs. The only place I have loose skin is my stomach and it's not that much. The reason to this is because my skin dose not have good elasticity.
Reply:As far as loose skin, age doesn't matter. When you're heavy, you have lots of skin- and fat is filling up that space.

But when you loose all the fat- there is nothing to fill that space where the fat was. So the skin is just loose and hanging.

However... you're not THAT heavy. So you won't have very much loose skin- if any. But make sure your weight lose is slow, because excessive weight loss in a short amount of time is a HUGE contributer to the loose skin.

People who loose over 300 pounds are the ones who have tons of loose skin.

So I don't think you should worry very much. I think you will be fine.
Reply:At your age, you still have a lot of elasticity in your skin which will shrink and not sag, but you will have to do it slowly. If you lose more than 3 pounds a week, you'll be losing it too fast and the skin won't have time to shrink to normal. Also, you will have to tone your body while losing the weight to tighten up the muscle under the skin. You can do it if you have patience, but if you plan on losing it really fast, then your skin will hang. Good things come to those who wait, and patience is a virtue!!!
Reply:Hi Madd

How did you lose the weight? diet and exercise or gastric surgery? To lose a hundred pounds is great, but if it was throw gastric by-pass surgery, then you lost the weight really fast and there will be some loose skin, but you are young your skin will shrink to a normal look. If you were a lot older then it would stay that way loose.

So don't worry to much about it, as long as you exercise your body's elasticity will bring it back in to the it's normal size,

keep losing and you have nothing to fear .

good luck and keep the Faith....PEACE....
Reply:That's a lot of weight to lose! Definitely consult your doctor before beginning your weight loss program. Having said that, if done in a controlled fashion, at your age, you should have no problem. It is also very important to include exercise as part of your program. The reason for this is that exercise helps to distribute your weight loss proportionately. Good luck!
Reply:Like everyone else said, if you lose weight slowly, you shouldn't have a problem. You should be more worried about dying young if you don't start eating healthy. Changing your eating habits is surprisingly difficult, because you have to give up eating so much, or eating so many treats, and eating releases endorphins (pleasure neurochemicals). You also have to give it up for good. Just get on with your new life of eating healthy, and you'll probably find out that your weight doesn't go down that fast anyways!
Reply:At 19 your skin still has it elasticity.... Lose it slow and you will not need surgery.... your skin will boucne back as you are young

Check at www.formerfatguy.com for a good example, he was over 400 pounds, no surgery, no loose skin

best of luck

Reply:My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product (all natural) which I think helps a lot in the process (it's really good for detox, you'll feel much healthier). I recommend you check this website

http://www.easy-diet-fun-now.us , they have a free trial and you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling. Good luck!
Reply:I'm trying to lose weight too and it's sooo hard. My aunt is using a weight loss product and it's really working for her (100% natural). I'm gonna try it and I recommend you try it too. It's really a colon cleanse, and it's a healthy way to detox, not like most diet pills. Check their website at

Reply:I would suggest trying cleansing your body. I found cleansing to be the best weight loss program. I have ever tried. I lost 12 pounds in a week and 29 pounds in a month. I feel better since I removed the toxins from my body and shed some unwanted pounds. I did weight watchers, Jenny Craig and Medifast. I found that cleansing was the best since I saw results quickly and that kept me motivated to stick on the program.
