Can a 16 yr old female lose 37-40 pounds without having loose flabby skin if she is NOT obeses?
As stated by another, if it is evenly distributed then you most likely do not have that much to lose. However, to answer your questions, yes it can be done and you can avoid the loose flabby skin. It is all about how you loose it and how fast. Although I could recommend severals safe supplements, I am going to avoid that just cause of the age. Instead, I would say do plenty of cardio (running, cycling, etc.) and eat 5 small meals a day. If possible, include some protein in each meal. It slows down the digestive process thus controlling spikes in your sugar levels. By eating 5-6 small meals a day you trick your body into not storing fat. One reason we store fat is because the body thinks it has to because it does not know when the next meal is coming. If you have nutrition provided regularly, it switches to just bruning it instead. Plus, you burn 10% more calories just digesting protein. High fiber can do the same thing as well. In addition, if you drink ice water wiith eah meal, that too will slow down the digestive process. If you do build more muscle you will burn more calories. Keep in mind though if it is the number on the scale that is your concern, then you may not want to. Muscle weighs more then fat but it also burns more calories just by having it. Hope some of thie helps and good luck.

Reply:Just lose the weight slowly and exercise to firm up your muscle underneathe the layers of skin. Exercising is very important, and keep yourself hydrated. Plenty of water will keep your skin from drying out and getting wrinkled.

Reply:People only end up with flabby skin when they lose weight too fast, i.e. you get your stomach stapled and lose 160 lbs in a few months time. If you lose weight the healthy way 1-2lbs/week, this should be a problem. Your body will have a enough time to adjust.

it has lost its elacticity and weight loss will likely result in excess skin.
If the skin is healthy and she exercises, eats right, drinks plenty of water and doesn't smoke, it will eventually go back. The slower the weight loss and the better muscle mass, the less time it will take for the skin to go back to normal.

Reply:you should be able to lose the weight and not have flabby skin if you incorporate a weight training program in with your cardio work outs. you need weight training/resistance exercises 4 days a week for about 30 minutes a session. i am short like you, and i lost 80 lbs 15 years ago, and i was obese. just because you don't look like what America thinks an obese person should look like doesn't mean that you are not obese. if you are more than 20lbs over your ideal weight, you are clinically obese. try eating a rainbow of nutrient dense, high fiber fruits, berries and vegies every day along with lean proteins such as chicken, fish, soy products, and peanut butter/nuts, with low/nonfat dairy products and high fiber, whole wheat, whole grain carbs such as breads, tortillas, crackers, popcorn, oatmeal, and other high fiber cereals. drink plenty of water and green tea every day and eat 6 times a day instead of 3. eating 3 moderate meals and 3 snacks will keep your metabolism revving. you should eat around 1500 calories to lose weight and 2000 to maintain it. make sure to exercise at least 5 days a week but every day is preferable. good luck.
