What will happen to my skin after i loose weight?
It all depends on how quickly/slowly you lose it. The quicker you lose it, the bigger the chances of haveing the hanging skin. Same with gaining weight.....the quicker you gain, the more of a chance for stretch marks.
Reply:Yes it is a possibility that your skin will hang but you can go to a surgeon and they could cut off that extra fatigue.
Reply:If you lose the weight through cardio only, you'll have excess skin that hasn't been pulled taut. Adding some weight lifting and yoga are good ways to build muscle and help your skin form to it's new mold. Try push ups and flies with the free weights to tone your arms, chest and back (since this is probably where most of your weight is). Losing weight SLOWLY will also help you to avoid "baggy" skin. Set a goal for 1-2 pounds a week. Best of luck!
Reply:Your not so obese that your skin will hang, plus your young enough and have a lot of elasticy in your skin, concentrate on loosing the weight and everything else will fall into place
Reply:It depends on your skins elasticity. I had 2 kids and went back to my normal weight after with no flabby skin but mine has very good elasticity.

Keep up the good work!!
Reply:First off, keep up the good work!

It's hard to say how much loose skin you will have; is the 280lbs mainly fat (and you had a really large circumference), or is it half muscle (and you aren't too large?) The larger you are, the more skin you'll have obviously, but but the good news is that you are quite young (18?) so your skin should have very good elasticity and respond well to stretch- so losing weight now may be the best time. The older you get, the less likely your skin will snap back nicely...

And also, lucky you're a dude, cause you'll likely replace some fat with muscle, which also takes up some space and therefore uses some of that skin...

If you keep running/swimming, and lose fat at a healthy speed (2lbs/week) it'll be best for your entire body. In general, fat is burnt evenly throughout the body, so progress isn't always obvious- your man-boobs will shrink at the same rate as your belly fat.

Plastic surgeons can help remove excess skin if it is causing health issues (like infections or low back) then your health insurance may cover the cost of the surgery. I think the requirements are: lost %26gt;100lbs, weight stable, and causing health issue? But the tummy tucks I have helped with were usually for gastric bypass patients who were very very large, and lost 100-200 lbs in about a year. Likely surgery is not necessary for you, but I just wanted to mention it, so you know there are many options- don't worry! Just keep up the weight loss and worry about skin later.
